By Philip Kuepper
The eight was erased
by light so brilliant
they disappeared as I watched them.
They appeared to have disappeared
into a hole in time.
And I imagined them rowing
in a dimension, unknown,
a dimension beyond
the mind’s measuring.
What remained on Mystic River
was only a scintallant, sudden
vacant space.
I was thrown by the sudden
displacement,
eight rowers replaced by light,
that caused me think vacancy,
when everywhere had appeared
the body of light.
