Munich-based journalist Wolfgang Goede keeps promoting the rowing anthology The Greatest Rowing Stories Ever Told and HTBS in the German rowing magazine Rudersport.

In the May issue of the magazine, Wolfgang interviewed me and asked questions about HTBS, the anthology and my collection of rowing books. In the June issue, he wrote a six-page (!) review about HTBS and The Greatest. Added are some images from different articles that have appeared on HTBS.

Wolfgang’s review of the anthology, titled “Magie und Poesie des Ruderns” (“The Magic and Poetry of Rowing”), has the following introduction (here translated):

This is a Rowers’ Digest: the history of rowing, stretching back thousands of years, condensed into just under 300 pages, told in 41 episodes from the perspective of some of the most knowledgeable rowing writers, ranging from the euphoria of victory to the despair of defeat. It explores the great aesthetics of the sport and its unique characters – with the prospect of an almost divine experience, namely when the boat seems to fly and begins to sing.

Isn’t that wonderful!

Vielen Dank, Herr Goede!
