Boats of fractured thoughts
row the stream of conscious
(the stream that flowed out of World War I),
boats that appear, and disappear
before they are finished building.
They are boats like ideas
that hang from threads
attached to wisps
that never shape into anything more
than a mental utterance.
There are no oars
as there is no course
to row, except
an unnavigable one.
The boat, gripping midstream,
or banging and splintering
against the rocky banks,
are of equal significance.
Whole, or split,
the boat is deemed
rowable. Such boats
suspend sanity.
