On 18 September, Melbourne University Boat Club, which was established in 1859, held the club’s Annual Dinner. The following night, it was time for the 150th Rowing Victoria Hall of Fame and Gala Awards.
Michael Nicholson, filmmaker and writer, was there to film both events, and here he shares his 16-minute film with the HTBS readers.
A great film — I hope we see more like it is uplifting to see our sisters and brothers from Australia — grappling with achieving equality in rowing — at the same time showing the grit that made that country a source of strength.
Is was especially radifying to see again the Oarsome Foursome — and to be reminded of Drew Ginn’s intellectual challenge to us all — “Will it make the boat go faster?”
