As HTBS has reported earlier, Marist University in Poughkeepsie, New York, will organise a Rowing History Symposium and Exhibit Opening of Thomas E. Weil Jr. Rowing History Collection on Saturday 15 August.

Here is the schedule:

1–2 pm — Keynote: Bill Miller 
Marist Student Center | Cabaret (#35 on the Campus Map)
Renowned U.S. rower, Olympian, coach, and historian, will present The Great International University Boat Race

2:15–3:30 pm — Rowing History Panel
Marist Student Center | Cabaret (#35 on the Campus Map) A discussion on the state of rowing history — where the field stands today and where we hope it will go. Current panelists:

• Bill Miller — renowned U.S. rower, Olympian, coach, historian
• Bill Becklean — Olympic champion and historian 
• Elizabeth Clarke — archivist, rowing historian, co-author of The Poughkeepsie Regatta: 1891–1950 (2022).
• Ed Woodhouse — historian, Harvard Hall of Fame oarsman, author of Joe Burk: An American Ideal (2025)
• Dave Vogel — renowned U.S. coach, rower, commentator

4 – 6 pm — Exhibit Opening and Archives & Special Collections Open House 
James A. Cannavino Library (#1 on the Campus Map)

• Exhibit opening — North Reading Room, James A. Cannavino Library (2nd floor)
• Reception — Archives & Special Collections (1st floor). Hors d’oeuvres, beer, wine, and soft drinks will be available.
