After the successful Zoom event “Preserving the History of Rowing, its People and Places” in February, the Committee of the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta (HOSR) invites those interested in rowing history to a second Zoom event on Thursday, 30 March, “Before Boathouse Row: Events that Shaped American Rowing”.
The HOSR Committee writes in an invitation:
Join the HOSR Committee 50 as we discuss the historic events that allowed for the origins and shaping of Boathouse Row, including damming of the Schuylkill River and establishment of Fairmount Park, and parallel developments that were taking hold across the country in the 19th century.
Special invited guests, who have studied these topics for decades, are:
Professor Elizabeth Milroy – Fairmount Park Historian Author
Adam Levine – Philadelphia Water Historian
Sophie Socha – Philadelphia Girls Rowing Club
Stephen Malboef – Detroit Boat Club
Bill Miller – Rowing Historian
