His were the oars prized,
even by other rowers,
whose envy was the envy
of admiration.

Merely to watch him
was to learn from him.
There were no words,
just action.

Smooth as cream
was his being
one with each pulling on,
and following through on

his oars, his willing them
do as he willed.
All was of the one piece
he was at the heart of.
