By Philip Kuepper
Boats are transports
to far worlds.
In death, pharaohs
were rowed toward Ra’s realm;
in death, Norse
warriors rowed,
in long ships, to Valhalla.
Evidence of both have been exhumed,
the collective mind thinking alike,
from disparate cultures,
desert peoples, and peoples of the fjords,
in multicultural communion,
boats, the links
that row us forth,
out of the flesh
to the spirit.
