That important June 1829 letter that Wordsworth wrote to Merivale.
Exactly a month ago, HTBS wrote about Charles Wordsworth’s 2 June 1829 letter to Charles Merivale about the upcoming first Boat Race between Oxford and Cambridge on 10 June in Henley. The letter was supposed to go up for auction at Graham Budd.
However, yesterday, HTBS was reached by the news that the letter is no longer up for auction. Instead a museum has privately purchased the letter for its collections.
As soon as HTBS has more information, we will give you readers an update. Watch this space!
