Here follows chapter 15 of “The Seven Seat: A True Story of Rowing, Redemption, and Revenge”, Dan Boyne’s tale about his rowing and sculling days in the 1970s at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, a series published on Row2K’s website.
In this chapter, “Culture Clash at Columbia”, Dan Boyne and the Trinity crew are racing on the filthy Harlem River against Ivy League Columbia. The row might not be pretty but the Trinity crew are escaping small rocks – and who knows, maybe even a cinderblock? – which the local kids are throwing at them. Back at the dock, after finishing first, the Trinity crew find an old ‘friend’ waiting for them…
