Allow me this jest,
this “excellent fancy”
of Yorick in a scull
rowing through Hamlet’s
apostrophizing him,
as his way of responding
to the prince’s melancholy,
scull rowing the sweet
river of verse, sweet
plying of words,
oars aplay with liquid grace,
stroking thoughts to speech,
a rowing short of soliloquy,
yet a rowing, full-out, of caring.
