The 2015 World Rowing Masters Regatta, held at the Blosso regata course in Hazewinkel, Belgium, ended yesterday. Worldrowing.com (FISA) reports that the regatta appears to have been a great success with nearly 5,500 athletes racing on the 1,000-metre course, this as a result of competitors been allowed to row in a variety of different races, from the youngest age bracket of 27 years to the oldest, the over 85-year-old category. Among the competitors were Olympic medallists Lars Bjönness and Vetle Vinje, of Norway, who won silver at the 1988 Olympic Games in the quadruple sculls, and Thomas Lange, of Germany, who took the gold in single sculls at the 1988 and 1992 Olympic Games.

The 2016 World Rowing Masters Regatta will be held on Lake Bagsvaerd, which is located outside of Copenhagen, Denmark, from 8-11 September 2016. The 2017 event will be in Bled, Slovenia, and the 2018 event will be held in Sarasota-Bradenton, Florida, USA.
