15399083081908373825This weekend, 18-19 October, it’s time again for the Head of the Charles Regatta (HOCR), which this year celebrates its 50-year anniversary. For competitors and spectators alike, all information about the regatta can be found on HOCR’s website here.

For the anniversary the organisers will release a film on demand, Head of The Charles: The Story of the First 50 Years, which will be available on Sunday, 19 October. It can be pre-ordered through Vimeo (click on link below).

About the 33-minute film HOCR website writes:

The Story of the first 50 Years of the Head of The Charles Regatta is a nostalgic and poignant narrative of the development of America’s premier rowing ‘head’ race. Kicked off by a handful of rowing pioneers at the Cambridge Boat Club, MA, in 1965, the HOCR today is simply regarded as the ‘super bowl’ of rowing; it has become a major Boston signature event attracting 10,000 athletes and crowds of up to 400,000 fans and is considered to be one of the most revered and fiercely contested rowing events in the world.
