10 April 2023
Once again Olympic commentators Robert Treharne Jones and Peter O’Hanlon of www.RowTalk.com are offering an event in their series of rowing commentary training days. The event will be held on Saturday 22 April as a hybrid event at Leander Club in Henley-on-Thames, so you can choose to join in-person or on-line.
The price (£15) is the same whichever way you join, and, because the training is scheduled between 1200hrs and 1600hrs BST, it means that everyone around the world can join in. Last year, there were attendees from South Africa, Australia and Canada. However, if you have a problem joining the event live, the event will be recorded so there is a possibility to watch it later – everyone can feel part of the action.
This course is especially for those new to rowing commentary, so if you think you know it all, feel free to forward a link to this article to your friends. On the other hand, you might want to join Robert and Peter to meet up with old friends and refresh your skills, as it may be a while since you last did any commentary of your own!
You can reach the booking system – Eventbrite – by clicking here to book your place. You will also be able to read a great deal more about what will be achieved that day.
Afterwards, everyone will be invited to submit an audio tape, and the best candidates will be invited back to work alongside Robert and Peter at the National Schools Regatta (NSR) at Eton Dorney between 26 and 28 May, so keep those dates free. The NSR committee has confirmed that every race will be live streamed via video. In addition, Robert and Peter have been asked to assist with several other events around the country and hope to circulate details on how you can be involved, in due course.
Here is some feedback from last year:
“Coaching and guidance from two world class commentators.”
“Enlightening, engaging and entertaining.”
“Gave me a new confidence and enthusiasm.”
“World-class insights and practical skills.”
