Cam-era

Overlap”, a splendid photograph taken by Guy Beauchamp on the River Cam at the 2018 Cambridge Town Bumps. On his Flickr page, Guy’s notes that the cox of the Champion of the Thames Rowing Club crew (number 46) is “conceding rather late” as a crew from Cantabrigian Rowing Club makes a bump. Tim Koch finds a photographer who fires his Canon at the right time.

I recently discovered the work of a talented amateur photographer, Guy Beauchamp. He is based in Cambridge, but he and his camera are widely travelled and some of the wonderful pictures that he has taken both at home and abroad are available to view on his account on the image hosting site, Flickr. Generously, Guy has made them available under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 2.0 Generic.

Naturally, some of the photographs taken in Cambridge include shots of rowing and there are two that particularly stand out.

Ejector Crab 1”. Taken at the 2018 Cambridge Winter Head, a rower from a London School of Economics crew is captured in mid-crab. Picture: Guy Beauchamp (CC BY-NC-ND 2.0).
Ejector Crab 2”. When a borrowed boat has rattled on a trailer all the way from London to Cambridge, it is probably a good idea to check if any screws are loose before racing. Picture: Guy Beauchamp (CC BY-NC-ND 2.0).

I do not know if Guy rows, but with his great sense of timing, he should.
