By Philip Kuepper
By then, the sky
and the sea were the same
shades of blue-green,
an aqua not possible
for one to attain,
like rowers and water,
inseparable, yet never one.
Describable? Yes.
But to mix, and work with?
Here was nature at its most
elusive, alluring,
drawing me in, yet beyond me,
even so much as wrapping round
my body its blue-green
curls of waves,
and, then,
retreating just out of reach,
nature, the tease,
offering, then withholding, simultaneously,
its beauty.
How like the enticing heavens,
and its legendary inhabitant.
