USRowing has announced that tickets for the 2019 Golden Oars Gala are on sale now! The event, which will celebrate the accomplishments of the 2019 U.S. National Teams, is scheduled for Thursday, 7 November, at the New York Athletic Club’s Manhattan location.
Proceeds from the evening will support the USRowing national team athletes as they prepare for next year’s Olympic and Paralympic Games on the Row to Tokyo.
Last year, USRowing and the National Rowing Foundation shifted the event’s focus to be more athlete-centric, and this year’s event will follow a similar format. The 2019 Golden Oars Gala will honor the
USRowing Male and Female Senior Athletes of the Year — Alex Karwoski and Kara Kohler.
USRowing Male and Female Under 23 Athletes of the Year — Sam Melvin and Emily Kallfelz.
USRowing Male and Female Under 19 Athletes of the Year — Harrison Schofield and Katelin Gildersleeve.
All six athletes were selected by their peers from their respective national teams.
‘Team USA qualified 12 boats for the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, building a very strong foundation for Tokyo 2020,’ said USRowing Chief Executive Officer Patrick McNerney. ‘Golden Oars is a wonderful opportunity to not only celebrate our future Olympians and Paralympians but to recognize the success of all of the athletes that earned the unique honor of representing the United States at the junior, under 23 and senior world championships. We look forward to honoring our athletes in New York City in November.’
The USRowing Medal of Honor recipient, who will be announced in October, will also be be recognised.
