Boats appeared lotus flowers
floating on the bay.
I thought Buddha,
sitting cross-legged, smiling,
on dorys, skiffs,
rowboats, sculls,
shells, out
on such silken
water on so fine
a day, the light
not overly hot,
a breeze just enough
not to make mischief
of the waves, delicate,
escalloped, nacrelike.

I could not ask for more,
and did not.
