Men are fish the sea
has fished, and thrown back
as uneatable,
Odysseus, Ancient Mariner, Ahab,
who take turns at the helm
of the Flying Dutchman,
until the world ceases to evolve;
men sailing between
sea and land, land and sea,
men never at rest
until the sweet kiss of sleep
marries him, again,
to the elements from which he comes.
