Totally Thames 2024: Call-Out for Proposals

In a press release, Darren Smallman, Head of Digital, Marketing & Communications at Thames Festival Trust, which manages Totally Thames, announced that the organisation is looking for ideas, events or projects for the 2024 Totally Thames Festival in London in September. Totally Thames is an annual festival of river and river-related arts and culture.

Submit your ideas!

  • We welcome artists and arts organisations in any artform including performance, visual arts, digital and film.
  • We are also looking for heritage, community and river activities.
  • All work must relate to the river, waterways or sustainability.
  • Need a riverside location? We may be able to help. We have collaborated in the past with many unique river and riverside venues/locations. Please note that we can’t guarantee to provide you with a venue. You are welcome to apply with a venue already secured.
  • Need funding? We are not a funding body, however for selected groups, we provide Seed Funds of up to £1000 to help cover costs. We are particularly interested in theatre, dance, music, visual arts and spoken word. Apply to our seed money here.
  • Selected projects will be integrated within our Totally Thames programme. These events benefit from marketing support.
  • We do not charge a registration fee. It is completely free to take part.
  • You must apply by Friday 29 March 2024 to be a participant in our 2024 programme.

Totally Thames 2024: Seed Fund Programme

Are you an artist or art collective developing a River Thames, waterway, or sustainability themed project? Do you want extra support from us to take part in Totally Thames 2024? Our Seed Fund has the potential to provide up to £1000 towards costs. To certain projects, we also provide marketing and development support. We are open to ideas across all art-forms including visual art, theatre, dance, music and spoken word.

To Apply

  • You must provide experience of producing at least one professional artistic project.
  • Have a river/water themed project in development. We are particularly interested in projects which explore sustainability and the impact of climate change on the river/water environment.
  • Scope out and/or have clear ideas about where your project might take place.
  • Your project must have a digital dimension (an aspect of the work which has been specifically created for our online platforms).
  • The physical aspect of your project must take place in London on or around the Thames between 1 – 30 September 2024.

To Selected Projects We Provide

  • Seed Money.
  • You can apply for a maximum of £1000.
  • Marketing Package (worth £2000).
  • Inclusion in Totally Thames’ Marketing and PR Campaign.
  • A bespoke video content package.
  • Development/progress meetings.
  • Development, mentoring and support meetings with the team to help you plan your next steps.
  • Opportunities to network and make new connections with industry professionals.
  • Need a riverside location?
  • We may be able to help. We have collaborated in the past with many unique river and riverside venues/locations. You are welcome to apply with a venue already in-mind and/or secured.
