Looking Down On Oxford

The Oxford Women’s potential Blue Boat racing London Rowing Club.

Tim Koch is on Barnes Railway Bridge.

I reported yesterday on the Boat Race Media Fixtures of 2 March where top British and foreign crews raced potential Oxford and Cambridge crews over parts of the Boat Race course. While both OUBC and CUBC raced, a media launch and live stream focused on the potential Cambridge Blue Boats only. The potential Oxford Blue Boats will have their turn in the spotlight on 29 March. Although Oxford were not the centre of attention in this first 2025 Media Fixture, I captured their progress at Barnes Bridge.

Emerging from under Barnes Bridge, the bow blade of the Oxford Reserves made contact with that of the Thames stroke – with the latter coming off worst. The race was not stopped and Oxford went ahead. Picture © Mel Brown.
