Leander continues with the club’s popular Library Rowing Book Talks where authors come to talk about their rowing books.
On 14 November, Sandy Nairne and Peter Williams talked about the book Titan of the Thames, their biography of William Grenfell, Lord Desborough, which was published in February.
Next event in the series is by Olympic silver medallist and world champion Cath Bishop, who is coming to Leander on 6 February 2025 to talk about her book The Long Win. To get tickets and more information about this event, go here.
Then on 27 March 2025, Dutch journalist and writer Hans Maarten van den Brink, author of the wonderful novella On the Water, will come to Leander. To get tickets and more information about the event, go here.
These talks are held in aid of the Leander Trust, which is a registered charity (No. 284631) to advance the lives of young people through rowing. The charity has created opportunities for young people to fulfil their rowing potential.
The Rowing Book Talks have so far raised almost £6000 for the Leander Trust, Irene Hewlett, Librarian at Leander, tells HTBS.
The Rowing Book Talks are open to all and run in aid of the Leander Trust and the ticket price includes a finger buffet in the dining room at Leander Club overlooking the River Thames.
