RTJ: Good News On “The Voice”

Dr Robert Treharne Jones, the “Voice of Rowing”, has commentated on Henley and the Boat Race, and on rowing at the Olympics, World Championships, and World Cup. He has been the press officer for both Henley Royal Regatta and Leander Club.

Robert Treharne Jones‘ many friends in the international rowing community will have been very concerned to hear that he suffered complications following a routine heart operation.

Recently however, Robert’s wife, Kate, posted this on Facebook:

We are so pleased to share this update on Robert after my latest visit this morning:

I can honestly say that Robert is the best l have seen in several weeks.

He is articulate, lively, bright and cheerful. I arrived this morning at John Radcliffe in Oxford to find doctors at this bedside where his treatment was being discussed.

The plan is that he will return to neuro rehab at Abingdon as soon as they have a bed, potentially this Friday so if you are planning a visit, please make sure you message first.

After some serious complications, this is good news. We are aware that stroke recovery isn’t linear but we are so pleased with his progress.

Thank you everyone for all your support, messages, well wishes and love from around the world, and in particular from St Catherine’s, Canada. Please understand if we don’t get back to you right away. We do appreciate them all.

HTBS adds its best wishes for Robert’s speedy and complete recovery.

  1. I want to add my best wishes to you Robert and your family for a speedy and full recovery.

You did such a wonderful job of organising the Olympic Celebration at Leander for which I am most grateful.

    John Beresford.
