Hoorah, currach!
A nice sound, that.
It goes with the flow of itself.
Why, it could even be thought
saintly. Were he about
Brendan would back me up
on this edging my way
into the territory of the holy.
Happy the rowers
such smiles on.
Voyages open
out to them
miles of water
(though measure a mile of water
and you will find
you can’t ever actually
measure it for certain.
It won’t stand still long enough
ever to be accurate.)
The number of water miles
from Ireland to Spain? I wish I knew.
But wishes are horses
you can’t look in the mouths of,
and ever come up with an answer.
Instead, simply row.
Put blades to water,
and let them rip.
Hurrah, currach!
