The other day, USRowing announced that anonymous donors have given a transformational gift of $1,000,000 to the organization.
This is the second largest donation in USRowing’s history and is dedicating the funds to the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Teams, USRowing said in a press release.
“We are honored to support the incredible athletes of the USRowing Olympic and Paralympic teams. This gift is a token of our gratitude for the athlete’s dedication, hard work, and the inspirational spirit they bring to the sport,” said the donors. “The pursuit of excellence is something that should be celebrated and encouraged, and we look forward to seeing Team USA boats race in Paris this summer at the Games.”
The extraordinary gift will support USRowing’s 56 athletes and alternates across 14 boats competing at Paris in the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The gift will be used to supplement monthly athlete stipends, support the cost of travel, meals, and accommodations both in the United States and abroad – including the multi-week training camp in Italy leading directly into the Games in Paris. Funds will also be used for athletes’ support staff such as coaches, physical therapists, dietitians etc.
“We are extremely thankful to the donors for their support. This extraordinary gift is one of the largest our organization has ever received; it will be transformative for our High Performance program and athletes,” said USRowing CEO Amanda Kraus. “A gift of this size is a testament to the growing recognition of the achievements of our national teams. It indicates an increasing commitment from the rowing community to both grow access in the U.S. and win medals on the world stage. It underscores the positive momentum we are feeling as an organization as we head into Paris 2024.”
The philanthropic support experienced by USRowing is on an upward trajectory and will allow for sustained growth and success in the years to come. This generous gift paired with the National Rowing Foundation’s $780,000 contribution to the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Teams are foundational to USRowing’s $3,285,000 goal for the Paris 2024 fund.
