Good news comes from England.

Thomas Wigley who has worked hard to get a so-called blue plaque up on the wall of the George Inn in Eton to celebrating boatbuilder and champion sculler George Pocock has finally got an approval from The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.

Thomas writes: “Everything is now in place to organise an unveiling ceremony for the plaque and then mount it onto the George’s outside wall! This final approval wrinkle was needed because the George Inn is an old Grade-2 listed building.”

George Pocock lived in the building between 1901 and 1905.

Watch this space for more information when the unveiling ceremony will take place.

  1. This is great news! I admire Mr. Wigley‘s dedication to this campaign and his persistence and patience in working with local government/council.
