In a statement on USRowing’s website on Tuesday, the organization reveals the results of the law firm Shearman & Sterling’s 16-month investigation of Jennifer Fox’s claims that she had been sexually abused as a 13-year-old by the late rowing coach Ted Nash in 1973, when he was 40.

Ted Nash won two Olympic medals: a gold medal in the coxless four in 1960 and a bronze medal in the coxless four in 1964. He was also a nine-time Olympic coach for the United States.

In USRowing’s statement it says that “Having reviewed the investigation’s findings, USRowing believes there is compelling evidence supporting Ms. Fox’s allegations…”

USRowing continues to write:

In response to the findings of the investigation, we are rescinding all honors USRowing previously conferred upon Mr. Nash – including 2005 Man of the Year and the 2013 USRowing Medal of Honor – and we will not consider Mr. Nash for any future USRowing awards.

Ted Nash died in 2021 at age 88.
