Oars grip hold the water
with the flats of their hands,
and lift it to lift the boat,
lift it in their slender arms,
then set it down,
gently,
an act that speaks
of care, of appreciation,
for the water, for the craft,
for the elemental,
and for the elemental shaped by man.

Hear The Boat Sing 
I am not sure these are ‘slender arms! I seem to recollect this painting was in a series you discussed sometime in the past – I think the expression ‘homo erotic’ was used.
The wooden washboards on the leading boat are interesting.
