Insofar as the river was there
the river was to be rowed.
It couldn’t be otherwise.
There was certainly nothing stopping it
being rowed. It flowed
as it was meant to.
It invited the rower to row it,
in fact, lured the rower to,
on occasion seemed to mock the rower
for not rowing it.
The river was active.
It needed to be reacted to.
Otherwise what was the point
of the river being.
Being: That is what mattered.
Rowers rowing
helped the river be.
