World Cup III at Lucerne: On The Start

Lucerne’s natural rowing lake, the Rotsee, may be known as “The Lake of the Gods” but for those sitting on the start with 2,000 metres of pain waiting for them, it may be more like staring into the mouth of Hell.

Tim Koch is at a World Cup Final that is not watched by 1.5 billion viewers.

On the second day of the 2023 World Cup III, I spent some time on the start pontoon where photographer Patrick White was kind enough to lend me a professional lens which gave me over 12x magnification. This, plus cloud cover giving a soft, diffused light, resulted in these nice pictures. As with yesterday’s post, I have not identified events or participants, letting the images tell their own story.
