The Stade Nautique de Vaires-sur-Marne, which is located east of Paris, will host the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic regattas. However, junior rowers from around the world will be able to try out the rowing venue already next week. That is when the organisers for the Vaires-sur-Marne regatta course will host this year’s World Rowing Under 19 Championships on 2-6 August.

This year’s championships will see more than 615 rowers from 53 countries fighting for the medals for athletes 18 years or younger. World Rowing explains the ages thus: “A rower can compete as an Under 19 rower until 31 December of the year in which he or she reaches the age of 18; after that date the rower advances to the Under 23 category.”

The women’s single sculls is the largest field with scullers from 29 nations racing, followed by the men’s single sculls with 27 entries.

In 2022, Greece topped the Medal Table with Italy second and Germany third. Germany and the USA will try to defend their titles respectively in the men’s and women’s eights. There are seven entries in both classes.

These championships consist of the following 14 boat classes:

U19 Men: JM1x, JM2x, JM2-, JM4-, JM4x, JM4+, JM8+
U19 Women: JW1x, JW2x, JW2-, JW4-, JW4x, JW4+, JW8+

Live race tracker, results, race reports, photo gallery and live blog will be available throughout the regatta on worldrowing.com, as well as updates on World Rowing’s Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Live streaming will be available on Saturday and Sunday on worldrowing.com.
