Boatspeak

5 June 2022

By Philip Kuepper

From where I stood
a shell and a catboat
appeared to be carrying on
a conversation with one another
out on the water,
in how the catboat would tack,
in quite an opinionated way,
in front of the shell,
and the shell would row forward,
as though driving home a point.
This they repeated and repeated,
and, by the look of it, quite happily,
two friends having fun   on the indulgent bay,
with the wind joining in.
